Dogbite

I always thought that it was fitting that we met

when tears were streaming down my cheeks

in that dirty school bathroom stall.

I thought I loved you, I thought I loved you.

The stain of bitterness

left on my tongue-

a taste that I thought I loved,

but I now know as naivety.

Your sharp teeth wrapped around my throat

after enticing me with deceitful promises-

shiny collarbones and bruised cheekbones,

you made me pull my hair out stand by strand.

I loved the praise that came along with

the crows pecking at the skeletal remains

that poked through my translucent skin.

You left me there to decay, you left me there to decay.
